Form tabs
Use this monitor to manage Content Services.



Protocols tab
Use this tab to check session load and Internet activity on your system, and to determine whether you need to modify any protocol settings.


Internet connection
Lights are green when you are connected to the scanner and black when you are not connected to the scanner.
Last reset
The last time the Content Monitor was reset.
Version
The Content Services version currently active.
Status
This light is green when the protocol is enabled, yellow if enabled but temporarily unavailable, and black if disabled.
Active connections
The current number of active connections for this protocol.
Peak
The LED lights to the right of the Totals bars on the Total lines.
Lights are black if the protocol is not enabled and green if the protocol is enabled and there is no overload condition.
Lights are yellow if the number of current active connections reaches or exceeds 66% of the total connections you have defined for the group. If the LED is yellow, consider adding sessions.
Lights are red if the number of current active sessions reaches 100% of the total connections you have defined. If the LED is red, this means service was denied, and you should add sessions if memory allows.
Lights will stay yellow or red until you click Reset or restart Content Services.
Hits/Items
The total number of connections since you last clicked Reset.
Transferred
The amount of data transferred using this protocol since you last clicked Reset. The suffix will change from K to M to G to T as the total data transferred increases.
Scanner
Indicates the overall 'health' of content scanning:
•       Green: running well
•       Yellow: running poorly
•       Red: needs immediate attention
•       Black: not running/not connected to the FirstClass server.
Queued messages
The number of messages in the Content Services mailbox waiting to be scanned.
Held messages
The number of messages that have been sent to the content scanner and are waiting for a reply.
Blocked messages
The number of messages that have been failed by the content scanner.
Reset button
Resets the date and time, clears the Hits/Items, and Transferred sections.

Monitor totals and Peak lights will only reset when you restart Content Services.



Control tab
Use this tab to update Content Services changes and empty your cache stores, shut down, force connections, and reload configuration files.


Tasking
Tasking does these things:
•       logs all Content Services tasks, which records all tasks at the moment you click the button, using the Log CS Task List button
•       logs detailed information about the current internal state of Content Services
•       records more detailed statistics to the ContSvcs.LOG file (Windows) or fccs.log file (Mac or Linux).
Tasks are logged to the ContSvcs.LOG file (Windows) or to the fccs.log file (Mac or Linux). Both files are located in the same location as the Content Services executable file.
"Task priority" sets the priority of Content Services. If you have Content Services on a dedicated machine, you can set the priority to High without slowing down your system. If you have both the server and Content Services running on the same machine, we recommend setting the priority to Medium for maximum system performance.
Shut Down Content Services
Shuts down Content Services remotely.
Scanning On/Off
Temporarily disables content scanning and reenables it.
Configuration
The Refresh button forces Content Services to reload the configuration form immediately.

Content Services can be configured to reload the configuration forms periodically. Click this button if you prefer not to wait.
If you are watching the monitor, you will see the status lamp turn yellow while the configuration is being refreshed.
The log buttons may be required for troubleshooting.



Logging tab
Use this tab to set log levels for debugging categories used in the Content Services log file, ContSvcs.LOG file (Windows) or in the fccs.log file (Mac or Linux), located in the same location as the Content Services executable file.

We recommend you set logging levels off or low unless you require more information to identify a problem. If this is the case, only change the specific debugging categories relating to the problem or the logging may affect the performance of Content Services.


Clear Logging Levels button
Clears logging levels, returning the values to zero.
Write Log to Disk button
Creates a temporary log file (per session) of all Content Services activity.
Activity is logged to the ContSvcs.LOG file (Windows) or in the fccs.log file (Mac, Linux), located in the same location as the Content Services executable file.
Insert Marker in Log button
Marks a position on the console or in the log file by inserting Content Services Information. This option is useful if you have a very large log file and you want to separate information for easier reading.
