Response buttons |
These buttons only appear when the task has been assigned to you: |

Accept |
Accepts the task. |
|
Tentative |
Accepts the task while indicating that you might be unavailable. |
|
Decline |
Declines the task. When you decline, FirstClass generates a reply message to the sender so that you can provide an explanation. |
Attachments |
All files attached to this task. This field is only displayed after you attach a file. |
Task tab
Use this tab to specify general information about the task.

Your name is displayed here automatically. |
Description |
The task description as you want to see it on the calendar and in any reminders. |
Starts at |
The start date and time for the task, if applicable. If there is no specific start date, accept None. If there is a specific start date, click this field to open a popup calendar. To change months or years, click the browse arrows. To specify a time, choose or type it. To select the date, click it, then click OK, or click Today for today's date. You can also hover your cursor over the
displayed date and time to change values. When the cursor changes to a calendar, drag it up or down to change the date one day at a time. When the cursor changes to a clock, drag it up or down to change the time by 15-minute increments. |
Due at |
The due date and time for the task, if applicable. Click this field to open a popup calendar, then set the date and time as for "Starts at". If there is no specific due date, accept None. |
Priority |
If you change the priority to Urgent, the task appears in bold on the calendar, and is shown at the top of the tasks in the Today list. |
Category |
The type of task. Choose a category or type your own, if desired. |
Reminders |
Whether to generate reminders of the task before the start and due dates: |

Doesn't generate any reminders. |

Time before start and end |
Generates reminders at the time before the start and due dates that you specify. Choose a value or type your own. If you don't specify a unit, such as minutes or days, FirstClass assumes hours. |
State |
The status of the task. When you are ready to change the status, choose it at the first field. Click the second field to open a popup calendar, then set the date as for "Starts at". To revert to Not Yet Complete, click None. You can also hover your cursor over the displayed date and drag to change the date, just as you can at "Starts at". If you choose the status Completed, today's date is set by default. |
Advanced tab
Use this tab to set advanced options.
Assign to |
The person you want to be responsible for this task. Enter their name just as you would when addressing a message. When the person responds, you will see an icon beside their name indicating their response: |

The assignee has accepted the task. |
|
|
The assignee has accepted the task tentatively, and may not be able to do it. |
|
|
The assignee has declined the task. |
Time zone |
The time zone for the task start and due times. This overrides the default time zone set in your preferences, allowing you to set tasks in different time zones. |
Visibility |
Tasks with Normal or Company visibility can be opened by others viewing the calendar. Tasks with any other visibility can only be opened by the task creator. This behavior may change based on calendar permissions. |
Color |
The background color for this task on the calendar. You may want to color code certain tasks. For example, you could give all personal tasks a pink background. |
Icon |
The icon that represents this task. To change the icon, click it, then click the new icon in the popup list. To see a fuller list of icons, Control-click (Windows) or Option-click (Mac) the icon. |
The rest of this form is the body of the task, where you can type and format additional information.
